The Marion Swimming Club (MSC)
The Marion Swimming Club was established in 1979 and was the youngest club to be awarded "Club of the year" by the state governing body Swim SA.
It first won the coveted award in 1982, just three years after the Club's formation.
MSC is respected for its initiative in keeping abreast of swimming developments and ensuring its young sportsmen and sportswomen reach their full potential.
The Club believes swimming should always be an enjoyable and rewarding experience for young members as they are guided towards their ultimate goals.
MSC also takes enormous pride in its "family" image, an image gained through its efforts to make new families feel welcome and Club social activities structured to promote fun and friendship.
The majority of our swimmers compete at club level but past and present members have represented MSC in all tiers of swimming including State, National, Commonwealth and Olympic levels.
Training
MSC provides training every day of the week with both morning and afternoon sessions available. Our coach, Tom Mitchell can be contacted on 0438 896 300 or our Club Secretary Darren McLachlan at dmclachlan@westminster.sa.edu.au
Training throughout the summer month - October through to April is located at the City of Marion Swimming Centre. Winter months the club trains at Westminster School, Alison Avenue, Marion.
Squads
MSC has a variety of squad and training time options catering for young swimmers who have advanced from learn-to-swim programmes are proficient in all four strokes, through to those competing at State and National level. For placement in the most appropriate squad you will need to make a time to 'try out' for the coach.
Fees
Training fees depend on the number of sessions undertaken by swimmers.
Carnivals
Marion Swimming Club conducts two swimming carnivals; one on behalf of Swim SA where all swimming clubs from across South Australia compete at Marion Swimming Centre. The other carnival is promoted towards the primary schools, with over 20 schools participating with the Swim Club hosting and coordinating the day. These two carnivals in particular the primary school carnival is a great opportunity to promote swimming to school children.
MSC, which is a progressive and highly respected club within the swimming community, is affiliated with swimming's governing body in South Australia, SwimSA. It has competitive and non-competitive members and is dedicated to promoting the sport of swimming and all its benefits. MSC encourages comradeship, sportsmanship and inspires swimmers to not only set personal goals but also achieve them.
