The Warradale Shopping Precinct lies immediately north of the new Oaklands Station. Traffic and pedestrian movements around the Warradale Shopping Precinct and traffic congestion associated with the Oaklands rail crossing have been the subject of long term community debate.
An urban design solution requires resolution of the plans for arterial road traffic management around the precinct. These studies are to be undertaken by the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI).
LATEST NEWS
In the 2008/09 State budget (announced on 5 June) $12.6 million was committed for the widening of Prunus Street and Diagonal Road.
In 2007 Council resolved to support DTEI undertaking investigations into the traffic option for the Warradale precinct which involves widening Prunus Street (on its southern side) and Diagonal Road (on its eastern side) as well as a potential closure of Morphett Road at its intersection with Diagonal Road.
TIMELINES
This is a long term project which is directed by the State Government.
BACKGROUND
