The Marion Libraries Writers Group are a group of amateur writers who meet to discuss their work and to get support and feedback from the group.

Beyond a place where I can see,
And wonder, if back on the shore
where I grew up so long ago,
If someone’s watching,
just like me.
There, in the middle of the deep,
My thoughts and theirs
will mix and meet,
And as the waters bathe my feet
I’m touching home once more.

A radiant dawn.

fierce family defender,
piebald magpie struts.

Marion Library Writers' Poets - Marilyn Linn 2007
Tucked in a corner with myriad words
unfamiliar faces gather protecting secret thoughts.
Children crying, people looking quizzically
as fleeting library dwellers prepare to
divulge soul secrets.
Awkwardly balancing folders and papers
filled with sombre stanzas and light, lyrical lines,
looking inward like an incomplete magic fairy circle
seeking villanelle vigour from alternate worlds
shrouded in sighs.
As the puppeteer guides the marionette
Susan steers disparate poets through a Marion
maze of cinquains and sonnets,
expand, merge, disconnect
but never disconnected,
ever ready to begin again.
