Concert at the Cove

Families are invited to dance, sing and unleash their inner rock star at Marion’s first community music festival.

The free event will showcase the best of classic pop and rock from 2pm to 6pm at Heron Way Reserve, Hallett Cove on Sunday, 25 March.

Main stage program

2pm - Marion City Band and local schools - Bold as brass renditions of Smoke on the Water, Ghost Busters and Funky Town and everything in between.

2.45pm Air guitar competition - Solo like Jimi Hendrix or channel Jimmy Page, impress the judges, win a prize. ( meet at main stage, 2.30pm)

3pm Official launch - Adelaide Rock 'n' Roll Club members will demonstrate some dance moves and invite the public to join in.

3.15pm The Decibells - Hits of the 50s and 60s and dance along with members from the Adelaide Rock 'n' Roll Club.

4pm Rock Star Parade - Dress up as your favourite singer or musician and strut your stuff for a chance to win one of five great prizes. (Meet at main stage, 4pm).

4.15pm Breezin - Foot stomping classic rock.

5pm  Renne Pounsett - Powerful songs from the star of Channel 9's The Voice and regular Triple J playlist.

5.15pm Escapades - This party band will get you grooving with a blistering mix of pop, jazz, funk and disco.

6pm - Event concludes

2.30pm The Amazing Drumming Monkeys - Join Congo and Bongo for singing, dancing and drumming.

3.15pm Dancers by Donna - Learn to groove like a pop star.

3.30pm Noises for Kids Show - Come on a magical musical journey.

4.15pm Open Mic - You are the singer. select a song from our playlist or bring one of your own and sing your heart out.

4.30pm The Amazing Drumming Monkeys - Join Congo and Bongo for singing, dancing and drumming.

5.15pm Open Mic - You are the singer. select a song from our playlist or bring one of your own and sing your heart out.

6pm Event concludes

Come and Try Area

2.30pm Vocal lesson with Renee Pounsett - Come along and learn to sing a song. The session will include basic techniques including warm-up, breathing and vocal skills. You will also learn some vocal tricks and perform a song as a group. 45 minute session.

4pm - Learn to play the Ukuele - Join this guided session and you will learn basic cords and notation and will learn to play a song. 20 ukueles provided or you can bring your own. 30 minute session.

Food and refreshments

Relax on the grass, enjoy views of the coastline and dine on dishes from throughout the world from more than 20 Fork in the Road food trucks.

Craft kids

Visit the craft area and children can make a musical instrument from recycled materials, design an album cover, decorate a microphone. children must be supervised at all times.


Great prizes are up for grabs:

Rock Star Parade – dress as your favourite musician or singer and strut your stuff. 

Air guitar – Show what you can do with an imaginary guitar.

Rock ‘n’ roll dance - see main stage program.

Marion City Band - Visit the band and have a go on some of the musical instruments, including trumpet and drums.

Concert at the Cove celebrates the completion of the more than $1 million upgrade of Grand Central Reserve that now contains an amphitheatre, public art, paths and landscaped areas.

The event will be broadcast live by Coast FM 88.7.


Limited parking will be available on Grand Central Avenue and Dutchman Drive.

Vehicles with disability access stickers will be able to access parking spaces along Heron Way Reserve right of the round-a-bout.

Street parking is available at the Hallett Cove Beach train stations either accessed via Cherub Street or Gretel Crescent. 

Getting there

Park and walk - Park your car along The Cove Road and walk to the event, follow the signage to Heron Way Reserve.

Train - Catch the train and get off at the Hallett Cove Beach stop and follow the signs to Heron Way Reserve. The train timetable is available on the Adelaide Metro website, search Seaford to City.

Bus - Catch the 683 and get off at Stop 58 on Dutchman Drive or at the Hallett Cove Beach Station and walk down the hill to Heron Way Reserve. The bus timetable is available on the Adelaie Metro website.

Cycle - Ride your bike and chain your bike to a bike parking station.

Taxi -  Access will be granted to the drop-off / pick-up point at Heron Way Reserve. 

Catch the free shuttle bus service
A free shuttle bus service will be operating at Concert at the Cove. 
The bus service will pick up and drop off at the following locations:

  • Cove Road opposite Pavana Reserve in between Gretel Crescent and Genesta Street
  • Hallett Cove Beach Railway Station on Cherub Street.
  • Heron Way Reserve - event stop   

The City of Marion Community bus is wheelchair accessible. 

Bring your picnic basket and head to Heron Way Reserve.
