Fitness and fun for all at our neighbourhood centres

More than 450 people a week are flocking to the City of Marion’s neighbourhood centres for fitness and fun.
Children, adults and seniors are getting into shape at classes ranging from gentle exercise to high-energy work outs.
Emily McClintock signed up for boxing at Trott Park Neighbourhood Centre at the start of the year. “I took up boxing as it’s a great all body work out and a lot of fun,” Emily, 18 said.
Lorna Charmichael started exercise classes to improve her health. “I’ve been doing aerobics and light weights at seniors fitness classes for 12 months and it helps alleviate pain in my knees and hips,” Lorna, 66, said.
Aiden Barnard, aged 12, is a black belt in karate. “I train once a week and enjoy learning self-defence and being fit,” Aiden said.
Other activities hosted by centres include tai chi, yoga, Zumba, Pilates, dancing, women’s fitness and walking groups.
There are four neighbourhood centres in the City of Marion – Cooinda, Glandore, Mitchell Park and Trott Park.
