City Limits here

Dear residents,

Once again as budget time approaches the inevitable rate rises are on the table.

I will continue to lobby and agitate to keep rates low.

I strongly believe that the residents of Marion simply cannot afford rate hikes over cpi.

In times when there are massive hikes in emergency services levy, increased water rates and electricity prices and recent talk of a 50% hike in the gst, which was killed by the electorate, Marion ratepayers simply can't afford large rate rises, especially pensioners and self funded retirees.

I would also like to advise that after months of planning Council has approved an application to the Federal Government for a $4 million project for the upgrade of the Edwardstown Oval.

Councillors overwhelmingly voted for the project at a special General Council meeting on the 8th March.

I would like to congratulate members of the working party of the Edwardstown Oval for months of hard work and planning.
