Asset Management

The City of Marion owns and manages a diverse portfolio of assets, valued in excess of $1 billion. These assets exist in order to provide services to the community.

Asset Management is “the combination of management, financial, economic, engineering and other practices applied to physical assets with the objective of providing the required level of service in a cost-effective manner” (AFIMG).

It is the objective of Council to maintain these assets to an agreed level of service at the lowest cost possible for each year of their useful life. A key component of this is the creation and continual updating of Asset Management Plans.

It is a requirement of the organisation to obtain, manage, analyse, maintain and present data in a way to ensure effective decision making.

This is done through improved process, accurate data, intelligent systems and skilled people to support and guide the organisation to improved asset management.
