Construction of the terraced amphitheatre, paths, landscaping, automated toilet and public arts began in August 2017.

As part of the Hallett Cove Foreshore Masterplan, work will soon begin on the $1.035 million transformation of Stage 5 Grand Central Reserve into a vibrant public space capable of hosting community events.

The work is fully funded by Marion Council.

Council endorsed a revised Hallett Cove Foreshore Master Plan on 22 November 2016 with the following stages remaining for completion:

  • Stage 2 - Coastal Dune protection.
  • Stage 4 - Playground and reserve currently in detail design phase.
  • Stage 6 - Heron Way car parking and Café Plaza.

The Stage 5 amphitheatre project is due for completion to host a free music event, Concert at the Cove, in March 2018.
