Home Energy Audits

Do you want to understand how much energy you are using at home and identify how you can reduce that use?

Home Energy Audit Toolkits are available for loan at each of Council's three libraries:

  • Park Holme Library
  • Cultural Centre Library
  • Cove Civic Centre

The kit includes a range of practical tools to help residents complete an energy audit of their own home.

You can also do the audit online using checklists prepared by the South Australian Government.

If you don’t think that this is for you, check out the Retailer Energy Efficiency Scheme (REES) website that has been designed to help South Australian households and businesses achieve energy savings and potentially lower their energy bills.

Under the REES, most energy retailers operating in South Australia are required to provide Energy Efficiency Activities (incentives) for households and businesses. These activities may include free or low cost measures such as efficient lighting products, low-flow showerheads and ceiling insulation. They may also deliver energy audits to a number of low income households in the 'priority group'.

The REES presents an opportunity for energy efficiency businesses, welfare groups, local governments, manufacturers and other service providers to work in partnership with energy retailers in achieving their targets.

The REES is administered by the Essential Services Commission of South Australia (ESCOSA), and will run until December 2020.
