The City of Marion provides a wide range of services that contribute to the health and wellbeing of the community, by being responsive to community needs and complying with a range of legislation.

We are committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and proactively improving the health and wellbeing of residents inclusive of unemployed, elderly, socially isolated, new arrival refugees and people with disability.

 

Heart foundation walking groups
Heart Foundation Walking

Heart Foundation Walking Groups are Australia's largest network of free, community-based walking groups. Each group is led by a trained Volunteer Walk Organisers.

Anyone who joins a group is given information about the Heart Foundation, and can sign up to the Walker Recognition Scheme, where they can receive various incentives as they reach walking milestones.

A fun, social and easy way to keep fit, and best of all it’s free! Join a group near you and kick start your fitness.

 
Neighbourhood centres' healthy eating and physical activity classes 

Various healthy eating and physical activity classes are delivered through the four established centres within the City of Marion.

These activities include cooking classes, keep fit, tai chi, pilates, yoga, zumba, ballroom dancing, light weights, indoor bowls, belly dancing and national programs.

Walking and cycling in Marion

The City of Marion encourages pedestrians and recreational walkers to enjoy the natural environment including conservation parks, recreation parks and beaches.

There are some beautiful walking spots in Marion, including the popular Marion Coastal Walking Trail.

 

Swimming in Marion

The Marion Outdoor Swimming Centre is a premier, open air, swimming facility set in grassed and shady grounds and located in the heart of Marion.

The South Australian Aquatic and Leisure Centre (SAALC) is located in the City of Marion and provides all-year round aquatic facilities for the community, athletes and major events.
