A banner designed by a part-time artist from Plympton Park has been displayed in Adelaide’s city centre as part of celebrations marking 175 years of Local Government in Australia.
Anne-Marie Broughton’s painting of a child walking across stepping stones at Oaklands Wetland was chosen to be the City of Marion’s entry in a collection of banners from all 68 Councils in South Australia.
The more than 2m high banner was displayed on King William Street during October.
Designs were asked to interpret the theme “How our community benefits from Local Government.”
Anne-Marie’s design was inspired by Oaklands Wetland as a site that encourages families to be active outdoors, which she reinforced with the words “A place to play.”
The banner display was organised by the Local Government Association of South Australia.
