The last year has seen great change at the City of Marion, including a new Mayor, a new team of Councillors and a new Chief Executive Officer.

Whilst our new elected body is a diverse and strongly independent group, we all share the same purpose - to get the best outcomes for residents; to see that your rates are spent wisely and to focus on the basic services the community expects from Council.

We have robust debates without impacting adversely on our ability to work together. As anyone who feels strongly about an issue can attest, it is not always easy to avoid taking things to heart. I am proud to be part of a team that has shown that ability. Working well together may not attract media stories, but it allows us to get on with the job we were elected to do and get results for residents.

Over the next year we will be working towards: devising a more resident focused development plan; improving footpaths and verges and how they are managed; better outcomes for residents in areas such as customer services by building on the strengths of our people and improving on processes; getting our revised priorities for sports hubs underway to help address the sporting needs in the community; and increasing efficiency so we can do more with what we have for residents.

I would like to wish you, your family and friends all the best for the festive season. May you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year.
