Cement Hill is the area south of the junction of Ocean Boulevard and Scholefield Road. It contains two industrial sites and a truck access road for Boral’s Linwood Quarry.
LATEST NEWS
City of Marion is at a very early stage of rezoning the land. It is anticipated that this process will not be completed until mid to late 2009. Public Consultation will occur as part of the process.
Physical redevelopment of the land (including decontamination etc ) will follow the rezoning process. Discussions are being held between stakeholders to redevelop the Cement Hill site. Discussions are also being held with the City of Holdfast Bay regarding streetscape improvements.
TIMELINES
This is a long term project which involves the private land owners, the quarry operator and adjacent Holdfast Bay Council.
BACKGROUND
The industrial sites (Lorenzin and Monier sites) are proposed to be redeveloped for housing as was the ‘Emoleum site’ on Clubhouse Road.
Investigations are also underway into the possible relocation of the Linwood quarry access road to the south, adjacent to the southern-most point of the Marion Golf Course. This will separate quarry and residential traffic, creating safer access for quarry trucks plus enabling the redevelopment of Cement Hill.
