The Marion South Plan contains a proposal to redevelop the library and youth facilities at the Hallett Cove Shopping Centre into a Civic Centre for the Southern Community to include a library, meeting / functions hall, meeting rooms, youth service and civic square.
LATEST NEWS
The project is currently pending as the adjacent developments of the Connector Road and the Hallett Cove Shopping Centre will influence the scope of the Civic Centre project.
TIMELINES
The funding method through the budget process needs to be consistent with Category 3 financial sustainability for Council.
This is a long term project which needs to be integrated with the private sector development of the Hallett Cove Shopping Centre.
BACKGROUND
The City of Marion operates the Hallett Cove Library and the Youth Centre at Zwerner Drive in Hallett Cove. These amenities will need to be updated and could be complemented with meeting rooms and an activity hall.
