Coast to Vines Rail Trail
________________________________________________________________________________________
The Coast to Vines Rail Trail (approximately 38 km in length) travels from the coastal cliffs at Marino, through the suburbs of Hallett Cove, Morphett Vale, Hackham, Seaford to the Willunga Basin. A marketing plan for the Coast to Vines Rail Trail was prepared for the Cities of Onkaparinga and Marion and the Office for Recreation & Sports in March 2005.
The trail also links to business and tourism industries in the area as well as providing a valuable recreation asset.
The Coast to Vines Rail Trail (formerly called the “Willunga to Marino Rail Trail”) is being developed in accordance with the Recreation Trails Strategy for South Australia 2004-2010 set out by the Office for Recreation and Sport and the SA Trails Coordinating Committee.
The Trails Strategy recognised the Trail as a Regional Trail and aims to facilitate and support the development and enhancement of the trail. The characteristics of a Regional Trail are sustainability, quality, attraction of intrastate and interstate visitors, generation of significant economic benefits for the region and contribution to lifestyle and health.
