State Aquatic Centre &
GP Plus Health Care Centre
After a Request for Proposal stage in early 2007, State Cabinet selected the Aqua43 consortium (comprising Candetti Constructions and Macquarie Bank) to develop a concept proposal for the State Aquatic Centre and GP Plus Health Care Centre.
At its Special Council meeting on 30 October 2007 Council considered the concept proposal presented by Aqua43. The State Government will consider the concept proposal in November 2007.
Currently, Aqua43 together with the State Government and the City of Marion are working collaboratively to prepare a more detailed design for the concept proposal. Aqua43 has called for an Expression of Interest for a leisure water operator who will eventually operate the centre.
The target opening date for the State Aquatic Centre and GP Plus Health Care Centre is late 2009.
Oaklands Station
The $7m Oaklands Interchange redevelopment is a State Government project which will see a new station built adjacent the Morphett Road / Diagonal Road level crossing, and will include the provision of bus interchange areas on Morphett Road. The new facilities will greatly improve public transport to the State Aquatic Centre and other facilities in the Marion Regional Centre.
Bulk earthworks and construction of the platforms are largely complete, and construction of the shelter and car park pavements will begin shortly.
Warradale Shopping Precinct
At its meeting on the 13 March 2007 Council resolved to support the Department for Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (DTEI) undertaking investigations into the traffic option for the Warradale precinct which involves widening Prunus Street and Diagonal Road as well as a potential closure of Morphett Road at its intersection with Diagonal Road.
DTEI has advised that no allocations in the State budget 2007/08 have been made for investigations into this development.
