- The Community Bus service is funded by the City of Marion.
- Volunteer Community Social Support Program is funded through the City of Marion and Home and Community Care (HACC) in-line with National Service Standards.
- To enable us to provide an individual, quality service, please advise us if you have any specific needs.

Purpose
The City of Marion provides a door-to-door service for eligible residents, supporting independent living through continued access to the community .
Eligibility
To be eligible to receive community transport services, the person must:
- Be a resident of the City of Marion.
- Be an older member of the community, a younger person with a disability or their carer.
- Require some assistance or support to remain living in the community.
- Have limited access to other resources (e.g. family assistance, financial resources to pay for private help, etc.).
- Have difficulty accessing public transport.
- Not have access to a private vehicle.
From time to time there may be some capacity to also support residents who live in neighbouring council areas, if there are available seats and scheduling allows. Priority is given to the City of Marion residents and destinations.
COMMUNITY BUS
The Community Bus provides a door-to-door transport service within the City of Marion. It visits places such as shopping centres, libraries, Neighbourhood Centres and various senior's clubs and groups. Essential shopping is the highest priority. Some weekend services may be available from time to time.
The Community Bus service is provided with the support of volunteers drivers and assistants.
Shopping:
Regularly visiting major shopping centres within the City of Marion, the Community Bus can be used by eligible people once a week for shopping.
- Westfield Marion
- Castle Plaza.
- Park Holme.
- Hallett Cove (local residents only).
- Other locations considered upon request.
Neighbourhood Centres:
Transport to Cooinda Neighbourhood Centre, Mitchell Park & Trott Park Neighbourhood Centres and Glandore Community Centre is available every weekday, where a range of low cost activities are available. For further information contact:

VOLUNTEER SOCIAL SUPPORT
The City of Marion is fortunate to have a team of volunteers that provide individual assistance to eligible residents who require one-on-one support. The main purpose is to provide some social support for residents who lack resources and are isolated within our community. Assistance may include support and transport for:
- Occasional or once off appointments;
- Light assistance with shopping, banking, etc.
- Regular appointments for a limited time which will have a positive impact on health, safety or security, eg to attend a falls prevention class or health information sessions.
Support is available to places within the City of Marion and its close surrounds.
People must be able to access a vehicle without assistance and walk independently.
If there is a waiting list for people requiring regular shopping assistance, alternative options can be discussed with Community Care staff.
FEES to 30/06/2008
- Community Bus $3.20 return ($1.60 per one way)
- Volunteers - $3 per round trip. Residents are expected to pay for parking or other expenses.
WHO TO CONTACT
If you have never used the Community Bus or a Volunteer before, or have not used it in the last twelve months, contact Community Care on 8375 6649 to discuss your needs and arrange access to these services.
Community Care Services are subject to availability of resources and may vary from time to time.
