Volunteer Support

The City of Marion is committed to providing relevant, individual and quality services through its Community Care Team in-line with Home and Community Care National Service Standards. Please advise us if you have any specific needs.

Volunteers

Funded in partnersip with the City of Marion and Home and Community Care. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact Community Care phone 8375 6649 or email community.care@marion.sa.gov.au

Purpose
To provide individual support, which may include transport, to access appointments and shopping. Assistance is available for older people and younger people with a disability and their carers who need support to access these areas.

Eligibility
Older people, or younger people with a disability and their carers, who live independently and are able to walk and get in and out of a car without personal assistance. Volunteer support is subject to individual assessment and will be reviewed regularly.

Service Type
The City of Marion has a team of Volunteers who provide the following assistance:

  • Social support, which may include transport to medical type appointments.
  • Help with shopping where support is needed.

Assistance is subject to the availability of a volunteer.

Service Limits
Services will be provided within council boundaries or close surrounds.

Exclusions
Residents using this service must be able to accompany the Volunteer to the shops, bank, bill paying etc.

Charges:
  • A donation of $3 per round trip.
  • Donations help expand the service.
  • Council reimburses Volunteers for the use of their vehicle.
  • Cost of parking must be met by the resident using the service.

Community Care services are subject to availability of resources and may vary from time to time. If a waiting list applies, residents will be kept informed of the likely waiting time.
