The City of Marion recently held its Citizen of the Year awards to recognise those who have made outstanding contributions to the community in 2023.
Hundreds gathered at the Mitchell Park Sports and Community Centre on Thursday 25 January for a twilight awards ceremony.
The event kicked-off with around 60 new residents receiving their Australian Citizenship in a special ceremony conducted by Mayor of Marion Mayor Kris Hanna.
Six awards were then presented across five Citizen of the Year Award categories after council received 19 quality nominations.
Citizen of the Year – Rob Gray
Young Citizen of the Year – Jessica Williams and Antony Abbraciavento
Sportsperson of the Year – Andrew Unger
Sports team of the Year – Marion Swimming Club
Community Event of the Year – Souk Market, The Australian Refugee Association
