Council has endorsed a $4.8m Coastal Walkway plan to re-open gullies and extend the walkway to Field River mouth.
Work for the redevelopment will cost $4.8 million, with Council providing $2.4 million, a figure State Government has matched as part of its stimulus package to deal with the impacts of the coronavirus.
Council temporarily closed 2.5kms of the walkway as a safety precaution in June last year. Council reopened about 2kms of the boardwalk in February following repair work. Gullies will remain closed until rebuilt. Diversions are in place.
Aspect Studios has been engaged to undertake the design for the gullies and new connection of the Field River.
