Mitchell Park Sports and Community Centre

Building a better Mitchell Park Sports and Community Club

Liberal and Labor have each committed $5 million of federal funding to help build a new Mitchell Park Sports Club and Community Centre if elected.

This is in addition to the $10 million Marion Council has already committed to the site.

Candidate for Boothby Nadia Clancy pledged that a Shorten Labor Government would invest $5 million in the facility in March 2019.

Member for Boothby Nicolle Flint announced a re-elected Morrison Liberal Government would commit $5 million towards rebuilding the facility in May 2019.

A larger sports club would contain:

  • An indoor stadium for basketball, netball, volleyball and other recreation.
  • Facilities for football, tennis and cricket
  • A gym, change rooms, kiosk, expanded car parking
  • A neighbourhood centre delivering a range of community programs.

There will also be facilities for the dog club.

An expanded centre would create jobs and local business opportunities while providing a home for up to 1000 players of various sporting codes.

Public Rally

More than 200 people attended a public rally at the club in April as part of Council’s campaign to build a bigger and better facility.
