Southern Soccer Facility

The City of Marion and Football South Australia have been working in partnership to deliver the new Southern Soccer Facility on Majors Road, Trott Park. Council has committed $4.5 million towards the new development with the State Government providing a funding commitment of $2.5 million.

The new facility will contain:

  • Four soccer pitches (three to be delivered as part of the project)
  • Clubroom and associated car parking
  • Provision for a future pump track

The City of Marion and the State Government committed funding of $2.5 million each towards a new football facility in Southern Adelaide with the corner of Majors and Adams Roads being the preferred site.

Since the 2017 announcement the City of Marion has worked with Football South Australia for the delivery of a new football facility within Southern Adelaide with the facility to become the home of Cove Football (Soccer) Club.

Due to funding shortfalls, in November 2019, the City of Marion resolved to increase its funding commitment to $4.5 million and deliver the project.

On 10 March 2020, Council approved the Prudential Report as required under Section 48 of the Local Government Act 1999 for the project to proceed to detailed design at the Majors Road site.

What Club is moving to the new Facility?

  • The new facility will become home to The Cove Football (Soccer) Club and enable the Club to consolidate its players at one site.
