Good Gullies! Coastal Walkway bridges reach new milestone

Friday 12 Apr 2024
Coastal Walkway bridges 1

The Coastal Walkway project has reached an exciting new milestone with the installation of the first suspension bridge underway at Grey Gully.

Steelworks for sections of the bridge have been taking place all week at the Fryer Street Reserve construction compound. The first sections (bridge portals and platform landings) have been transported and installed at Grey Gully in the past few days.

The installation of each bridge is expected to take up to three weeks.

The Grey Gully bridge is being built first, followed by the Kurnabinna Bridge.

It is an exciting new phase for the project following months of intricate underground works forming the bridge footings.

Following completion of each bridge, works will then focus on finalising the construction and linking of the surrounding boardwalk paths.

It is anticipated both bridges will be in place very soon, with the overall project expected to be completed by mid-2024.

The Coastal Walkway is located in the Marion Coast Park which extends 7.2 km from Marino in the north, to the Hallett Headland Reserve at Hallett Cove in the south.
