We will be urging residents to join the campaign to lobby their Federal Liberal and Labor candidates into contributing up to $10 million towards building the complex to match Council’s commitment.
We hope you will support us to deliver this important project.
Council is about to unveil the first in a series of exciting new developments that will benefit hundreds of sports people and members of our community.
The $8.8 million Edwardstown Oval redevelopment will be opened at a free community event onSaturday, 13 April.
In June, work will begin on the $3.7 million upgrade of Morphettville Park Sports club, including a new clubroom and realigned oval.
In the south, the clubrooms at the Cove Sports and Community Club are earmarked for major improvements. This has been boosted by a $396,000 grant from the Australian Government.
The developments at Edwardstown and Morphettville also received considerable external funding, which is how Council seeks to deliver projects.
More than 1000 people joined the Muslim congregation at the Marion mosque on Sunday 17th March to honour the 50 people slain in Christchurch.
The Governor, Premier, Opposition Leader, Federal MPs and members of the local congregation and I addressed the gathering in an atmosphere of goodwill. The common theme among speakers was the need for compassion, and the need to respect and include all Australians in our community life. There were calls for our political leaders and the media to put an end to the language of hate and division.
On behalf of Marion Council, I offer my condolences to the family and friends of those killed or injured in Christchurch. One member of our local community lost 3 relatives in the Christchurch attack.
Council will continue to support our Muslim community.
Kris Hanna - Mayor of the City of Marion
