Marion Outdoor Pool 2023/24 season begins

The Marion Outdoor Pool is set for another bumper season when it opens its doors to kick-off the October school holidays.

Adelaide’s premier outdoor aquatic facility will open to the public on Tuesday, 4 October and has permanently extended its season to 30 weeks for the first time in 2023/24.

As the weather heats up, visitors are encouraged to start planning their next family outing to enjoy the unique features of the pool.

Mayor Kris Hanna said the facility had more than 132,000 visits in 2022/23.

“The Marion Outdoor Pool continues to increase in popularity and we are expecting that to be no different in 2023/24,” Mr Hanna said.

“In the past, the pool’s season has normally concluded at Easter, but 2023/24 will mark the first time it will remain open for a full 30 weeks.”

The facility’s water slides remain a huge drawcard for visitors.

The speed slide has a 10-metre drop and sees thrill seekers reach speeds of up to 31km per hour.

For those looking for a more sedate experience, the 70-metre slide includes twists and turns and a tunnel with multi-coloured lighting.

There is a 50-metre pool used by casual swimmers as well as people who train, shaded learner and toddler pools and the popular splash park.

“The pool’s outdoor setting, featuring BBQ areas and green spaces, makes it a great place to swim and relax alongside family and friends,” Mr Hanna said.

The Marion Outdoor Pool has launched a new customer portal that will allow customers to purchase memberships for lap swimming and general admission passes.

Customers can also book popular birthday parties and Aqua Aerobics classes online.

Swim school will commence at the completion of the school holidays in line with the start of the final school term. Sessions can be booked using the online portal.

The season runs until Friday, 26 April.
