Mayor Kris Hanna In Robes

I recently launched a campaign to rid the streets of dumped shopping trolleys, which are an eyesore and a hazard across Adelaide.

Judging by your reaction on social media, this is a long-overdue initiative.

Trolleys are abandoned in parks and creeks, block footpaths and roads. Our community is fed up.

Community Safety Inspectors are now stepping up patrols around shopping centres and trolley dumping host spots.

Abandoned trolleys are considered litter under the Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016 and penalties can apply of up to $5000.

We’re also planning a forum in July to bring together major retailers, trolley manufacturers and metropolitan councils to discuss the best solution to this problem. I’ll let you know the outcome.
