End dumped trolleys

The City of Marion is spearheading a campaign to rid the streets of dumped shopping trolleys, which are an eyesore and a hazard across Adelaide.

Trolleys are dumped in parks and creeks, block footpaths and roads.

They are a danger to pedestrians and motorists.

Over four days, staff collected more than 230 abandoned trolleys around Westfield Marion and Castle Plaza shopping centres to highlight the problem.

Please help us to stop trolleys being dumped.

Fines can apply

Abandoned trolleys are considered litter under the Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016 and penalties can apply of up to $5000.

What does the campaign involve?

Community Safety Inspectors are on alert to follow up reports of abandoned trolleys

Information on reporting abandoned trolleys is being sent to residents around Westfield and Castle Plaza shopping centres
Advertising in the local press, posters and information on social media
The City of Marion is planning a forum to bring together retailers, trolley manufacturers, collection agencies and metropolitan councils to find a solution to the problem

What if I need a trolley to take shopping home?

If you’re transport disadvantaged, frail or aged, you may be eligible to access the City of Marion Community Bus to visit local shopping centres. The bus transports people on return trips from their home to the shops (contact Community Care)
