The Trott Park Men's Shed has purchased some brand new equipment to assist with their next innovative project after receiving a grant from the Australian Government.

The Men's Shed successfully applied for a grant through the National Shed Development Program in recent months.

With the funding, members were able to purchase a new heavy-duty bandsaw, bench drill press and cordless batteries.

Federal MP Amanda Rishworth and Mayor of Marion Kris Hanna visited the facility on Tuesday to check out their new tools and the work the group has been undertaking.

They will use this equipment to build important items for the community, but the benefits of coming together at the shed each week extends much further than their innovations on the tools.

It is a safe space for them to connect with others, improving their health and wellbeing.

As one member of the Trott Park Men's Shed said: "We solve the world's problems here."

The Trott Park Men's Shed plays an important role in the lives of more than 20 members who attend workshops on Tuesday's and Thursday's.

The group has been active for more than two decades at the Trott Park Neighbourhood Centre.
