Hugh Boulevard Reserve Upgrade

Council will transform Hugh Johnson Boulevard Reserve in 2021-2022. This follows the Marion Council endorsement of the concept plan on 8 June 2021.

The construction of the new playground, pump track, pond and creek reinstatement and associated works is due to commence from 17 January 2022 which includes removal of existing playground equipment. Urbans Landscape Construction will be undertaking the construction works.

The design for the playground and associated works includes:

  • New play equipment – Junior play unit, Swing set, Hurricane swing, Carousel, see-saw, Custom Tree House structure
  • Fitness equipments
  • Basketball and Netball posts and rings
  • Junior Pump Track
  • Shade sail
  • Car parking along Patpa Drive
  • Toilet
  • Shared path for bikes, trikes and pedestrians
  • Nature-based play – Timber logs and steppers, Boulders, timber bridge nature trail
  • Picnic facilities – Shelter, BBQ, picnic tables, bike racks and drinking fountain
  • Reinstatement of pond and creek
  • Landscaping

Consultation on the draft concept via Making Marion occurred in October/ November 2020 and April /May 2021. Community drop in sessions were held end November 2020 and early May 2021.

Council recently received matching funding from the State Government’s Open Space and Places for People grant program to construct the reserve upgrade in December 2021. Completion is expected by mid 2022.
