Celebrating Marion

Council is shining the spotlight on the people and places that make Marion an exciting place to live, work and play.

Celebrating Marion is a 12-month campaign that will highlight what makes the city special.

Local residents can add their photograph to a three-dimensional artwork, enter an online talent contest, and write about life in their neighbourhood.

There’s a calendar of local achievements on Council’s website and specially designed graphics for businesses and groups to print off and display.

This is the first time Council has highlighted what makes Marion unique in a sustained manner – and you can be involved.

What you will see

The Face of Marion

This 1.8-metre high triangular public artwork will comprise photographs of the Marion community.

The artwork will be launched at Marion Celebrates on 23 February, after which it will move to Council’s Administration Centre at 245 Sturt Rd.

Have your photo taken at Marion Celebrates and add it to the artwork. Alternatively, drop into the Administration Centre and add your photo to build a picture of our community.

The Face of Marion will be seen at various Council venues during the campaign before its panels are taken apart and displayed permanently.

Celebrating Marion – online

Step into the spotlight

Marion residents are invited to enter Council’s first talent contest.

Video clips can be edited “highlights” of an activity and can include stills.

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges. The number of Facebook “likes” entries receive will be taken into consideration, but the judges will make the final decision.

  • Round two – 1 November to 9 December 2019
  • Round three – 10 February to 30 March 2020
