Artist opportunities

The City of Marion values creativity and artistic expression in community life and is committed to providing support and opportunities for individual artists and arts organisations to be involved in projects, events, festivals, community celebrations, and art in public places. Following are some regular opportunities:

Council support for South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival artists

Council supports local artists taking part in the SALA Festival by subsidising artist registrations for individuals and groups with a rebate of $120. Limited rebates are available. Be quick! First in best dressed.

Artists who do not reside within Marion but are holding an exhibition in the council area for SALA are also eligible to claim the rebate.

Eligible artists should pay their registration as normal to the SALA office, then send a photocopy or electronic copy of their receipt to:

Grants Programs

The Community Grants program and the Youth Grants program assist local non-profit community groups and organisations to establish and undertake innovative projects or activities that are of benefit to the community.

Reclaiming Sturt River – public art, environment and placemaking

The City of Marion is seeking Expressions of Interest from South Australian artists to design and create public artwork/s for public spaces within City of Marion.

The goal of Reclaiming Sturt River project is to activate areas along Sturt River, create artworks that increase awareness of environmental themes and are influenced by stories about the community use of the river and linear park.

The public artworks for Reclaiming Sturt River can include sculptures, murals, multi-media suitable for outdoor public realm conditions.

Expressions of Interest are due 5pm Wednesday 6 January 2021
