Style

I have had a long career in the Art / Craft area. I love to exploit the qualities of oils, making it liquid, normal or thick, as well as indulging in my love of colour. All the time being aware of the intensity and luminosity of colour and the basic design necessary.

Biography

After teaching at Cabra College for 8 years, I made silk-screened and air-brushed wall hangings of Australian scenes which was very successful for over 10 years (Shimas Design). After this I produced fabrics for quilters which were in Australian colours of our flora and fauna. All fabrics sold well here, interstate and overseas. I then started concentrating on oil painting after attending Adelaide Central Art School, where I was fortunate to have Rob Taylor and Anna Platten as my teachers.

I became a member and a Fellow of the Royal SA Society in 2009. I am also a member of the Council and Selection Committee as well as running the Southern Portrait Group based at Noarlunga Art Centre, a member of the Adelaide Central Alumni and Gallery M.

Achievements

I was involved in a glass community project at the Reynella Neighbourhood Centre under the direction of Cedar Prest, I now prefer to just paint and am interested in commissions, particularly portraits.
