Biography

I was born in Sweden (my mother was a ballerina and father was an opera singer in Gothenburg) and I grew up in Australia.

As a child my mother called me Susie-Lotta as a nickname so thats where my business name comes from. I lived for 16 years in Sweden in the area with lots of textile designers. I studied textile design at the Textile University in Sweden and am also a qualified graphic designer. I have a B.A. of Visual Arts majoring in photography, film and computer animation from the University of South Australia.

During my life I have studied design and art for around 9 years. I have been producing art, photography and designs for over 20 years. Nowadays I live by the sea in Adelaide, Australia where I have my freshly new business.

Susie-Lotta designs produces textile designs for home-wares, as well as doing graphic design and photography!

Some of my greatest interests are photography, Scandinavian design/glassware/ceramics/textiles and second-hand markets. My favourite art styles are: Art Nouveau, Scandinavian, Art & crafts movement. Whilst growing up I was often dreaming about Sweden and I grew up with prints of paintings on the walls by Carl Larsson, glassware from Kosta Boda, Orrefors etc. Other artists I like are John Bauer, Arthur Rackham, Ivan Ivarson, Elsa Beskow, John Waterhouse.

I have a lot of experience working with photography, including working in a fashion-advertising photo studio in England, teaching adults photography in Sweden, photography stores in Sweden and Australia. I have also worked as a freelance photographer in Sweden and Australia.

Achievements

Recently a poster I illustrated and designed received a prize at Flinders University, nursing department.

Since 1990 I have had 10 art exhibitions. The majority of the exhibits were photographs.
