What is community engagement?

Community engagement helps Council to achieve more effective governance through balancing decision making with sensitivity to community needs, interests and aspirations.

Well planned community engagement activities and processes enhance a vibrant local democracy and support the development of ongoing relationships with the people who visit, live and work in the City of Marion.

Marion 100

Marion 100 is a group of 100 local community members who collectively represent the diverse make-up of the City of Marion.

The group is drawn from residents and ratepayers who expressed an interest in being involved in a summit on community engagement following a public call for EOIs during September and October 2021.

The first Marion 100 Community Summit was held on 21 November 2021.

Visit Making Marion to read the What we heard report, which captures the feedback from the summit.

Our policy

The Community consultation and engagement policy sets out the foundation and underlying principles of how Council works with its local communities.
