Are you able to work independently and relate well to others? Do you have experience working with aged people and with people that have a disability?

The City of Marion is looking for Community Bus Drivers to help aged people and people with a disability to access community activities, shopping centres and social clubs.

Driving applicants are required to have a current car licence which is all you'll need to drive our 12-seater buses transporting clients of the Community Bus Service.
In providing this service you will be supporting our clients to:

- Assist on the community bus to provide transport to and from shopping centres, the adult recreation centre and social clubs

- When needed, help by carrying shopping for clients to their front door or into client houses if requested

- Assist residents to attend social activities

Other aspects to the role include:

- Report to the community bus coordinator any changes that may affect a client’s ability to access the community bus

- Report to Community Bus Coordinator any bus-maintenance issue

If this sounds like you, then we want to hear from you, apply for this position via: MyImpactPage - Community Bus Volunteer (betterimpact.com). You can also apply online using the Volunteer Online Application Form below.

For any questions or to learn more about this role and how you can get involved contact Mark at mark.liebich@marion.sa.gov

URGENT: Social Support Volunteer

Are you ready to enrich the lives of our cherished senior residents? The City of Marion is eagerly seeking Social Support volunteers to bring joy, connection, and independence to our community's older members.

The Social Support program is an immensely meaningful and rewarding program. No specialized expertise is required—just a warm heart and a passion for meaningful conversations.

In return for your generous spirit, we offer comprehensive training and ongoing support for the fulfilling roles you'll undertake.

The successful applicant will need to have a car license, a car with comprehensive insurance, and the enthusiasm to:

- support residents in accessing medical appointments within or close to the City of Marion boundaries and assist them to arrange future appointments as required.

- accompany residents to health-related appointments outside the council area, which may involve travelling with the residents and offering a helping hand in public transport or taxis. At times, you may also assist in picking up residents for Aqua aerobics or Hydro sessions.

- assist residents with grocery shopping, from making lists to carrying bags and unpacking at their homes.

- accompany residents to attend social activities, ensuring their health and safety, or simply enjoy a coffee and chat, a leisurely walk, or a seaside fish and chips outing.

- show genuine interest in our residents' lives, listening to their stories, encouraging participation, and being a friendly face—sometimes, you might be their only visitor for weeks.

- demonstrate compliance with necessary checks, including a National Police Check, relevant DHS checks. The Police and DHS checks will come at no cost to successful volunteer applicants.

As a token of appreciation, we provide travel allowance reimbursements to our dedicated volunteers. If this opportunity resonates with you, we'd love to hear from you!
