Services we offer
We are searching for the descendants of more than 200 local service people listed on a World War One honour board, the Edwardstown Honour Roll.
The list of soldiers was created in 1918 to commemorate people from the Edwardstown district who had served in WW1.
The board was housed in the old Edwardstown Institute building for 70 years before being rediscovered at the Warradale Army Barracks, Oaklands Park early in 2016.
If you have an ancestor on the list we would love to know more about them!
Please download the Edwardstown Soldiers List or browse the list of names below and let us know if you recognise a name.
On 22 October 2016, a special Descendants' Reunion Morning Tea was held at the Warradale Barracks to bring together the families of people listed on the honour board. Nearly 100 descendants and interested friends gathered to view the roll, hear stories of service, and share their own ancestors' stories over morning tea. We were delighted when various family members told us they were touched by a meaningful and enjoyable commemoration of their ancestors service and memory.
This project was spearheaded by Raelene Telfer, with research conducted by the staff of the Marion Heritage Research Centre, and generously hosted by the 9th Brigade, Australian Army staff of the Warradale Barracks.
The City of Marion is proud to have been associated with this commemoration, and it was a special event for all who participated.
