Residential parking exemption permit application form

Conditions of permit

  1. 1. The method of display required in the vehicle, e.g. The permit must be placed on the left hand side of the dashboard to enable it to be read by Council inspectors.
  2. 2. The Residential Parking Exemption Permit shall only apply within the street or road as listed on the permit and in the manner specified by the Council, in residential areas and specifically exclude frontages with commercial, educational or Council reserves use, where parking restrictions apply.
  3. 3. Every holder of a Residential Parking Exemption Permit who changes his or her place of residence shall forthwith remove such Residential Parking Exemption Permit from the vehicle.
  4. 4. Applicants shall produce evidence of being an occupier of the dwelling specified on the application prior to the issue of a Residential Parking Exemption Permit, e.g. A letter with the applicant’s name and address, copy of driver’s license, etc.
  5. 5. A Residential Parking Exemption Permit will allow any vehicle with the permit displayed, to park in the specified street or road and overstay time limit parking zones established in that street or road eg. 2P time limit or 1/2hr time limit.
  6. 6. A Residential Parking Exemption Permit will not allow the holder to contravene any other sections of the Australian Road Rules, or regulations in relation to the parking of vehicles (i.e. Parking on footways, reserves, plantations, or in bus, no standing/no parking, loading and/or taxi zones, across any driveway, over a fireplug, being parked within the prohibited distance of an intersection/junction or such similar breach).
  7. 7. Parking infringement notices will not be waived on the basis of incorrect or non-display of the Residential Parking Exemption Permit.
  8. 8. A holder of a Residential Parking Exemption Permit will not be guaranteed a parking space in the street for which the permit is issued.
  9. 9. The Residential Parking Exemption Permit shall only apply until the date shown on the permit.
  10. 10. A parking permit is not valid for commercial vehicles with carrying capacity exceeding one tonne or trailer and caravans unless hitched to an exempt vehicle.

Declaration

After reading the Conditions of Permit for the issue of a Residential Parking Exemption Permit, I hereby apply for a permit to exempt my vehicle from the time limit parking restrictions as per street listed above  

Please note:

  • Only one permit will be issued per household (additional permits may be issued under extreme circumstances)
  • The expiry date of each Residential Parking Exemption Permit is 30 June each year
  • A new permit will not be automatically reissued each year and it is recommended a new application be submitted at least 1 month prior to the expiry date of your current permit.
  • It is the responsibility of the permit holder to advise council if the permit is no longer required
