Swimming pool water

As a rule, only rain water that is clean and free of contaminants can enter the storm water system.

Swimming pool water (particularly back wash water) can contain a range of chemicals such as chlorine and salt, as well as dirt particles, leaves, body oils, sun screen residues and bacteria which can affect aquatic plants and animals.

Swimming pool water and back wash water should be directed to sewer.

Concerns regarding waste water being discharged to the street water table should be referred to the Community Health and Safety Unit's Environmental Health Team:

City of Marion
Community Health and Safety Unit
In person: 245 Sturt Road, Sturt SA 5047
Post: PO Box 21 Park Holme South Australia 5043

Please contact an Environment Health Officer as soon as possible if the discharge is still occurring.
