5 simple ways to spark joy

If there’s one thing that we can all agree on, it’s that life is busy and it’s easy to lose ourselves in our day-to-day routines, sometimes forgetting the simple things that truly bring us joy or make us feel content.

Take this as a reminder to check in with yourself, take a deep breath and clear your mind.

It’s time to remember what brings you joy in life, whether that is getting out in nature, connecting with others, moving your body, or expressing your creativity in any way that you can.

We have compiled a list of 5 simple ways to spark joy in the City of Marion.

1. Get outside and experience nature

Surround yourself with nature and listen to the wildlife as you walk through the Oaklands Wetland and Reserve. Sit by the water, have a look at the ducks, and indulge in some quiet time. Look up at the tall gumtrees and find a shady spot to read a book under or do some journaling.

If being by the ocean is more your thing, clear your mind by increasing your heart rate as you walk the Coastal Walkway along Hallett Cove and Marino. Smell the salty sea, listen to the waves, and soak up the warmth of the sunshine.

2. Satisfy your curiosity and thirst for knowledge

Immerse in a quiet, safe space with nothing but inviting stories around you at one of our libraries, located at Park Holme, Cove Civic Centre and the Marion Cultural Centre. Lounge in a book nook and get lost in a novel, listen to a podcast or study. Join a face-to-face author talk, seminar or take part in a workshop to learn some new skills. If you’re looking for inspiration and want to appreciate the creativity of others, we recommend checking out Gallery M. Observe the work of the different artists throughout the exhibitions.
