Things to do
The community is invited to attend a free public forum to debate the impact of proposed rate capping legislation.
Organised by the City of Marion, the Rate Capping Forum will bring together the State Government and Local Government Association to present their opposing views.
Mayor Hanna will host the forum and present Marion's record on rates.
The format is the first of its type to provide an opportunity for the public to ask questions of the participants.
Legislation limiting Councils’ ability to set rates has passed the State’s Lower House but the Upper House has not yet debated the issue.
On the eve of Parliament’s decision, the forum will present both sides of the argument so you can decide - should rate rises be capped?
The forum is expected to last for an hour followed by light refreshments.
Please register your attendance online Rate Capping - Community Debate.
You can also RSVP to Nakita Van Rooijen at Council on 8375 6600 or via email Mayor.EA@marion.sa.gov.au
