How does a religious cult seize control of a German city and convert thousands of people to polygamy? In New Jerusalem Paul Ham explores the persuasive power of a few self-appointed prophets at a time of great upheaval.

Paul Ham is a historian and author of Passchendaele: Requiem for Doomed Youth, winner of the 2018 Douglas Stewart Prize for Non-Fiction, as well as the critically acclaimed Young Hitler: The Making of the Führer, 1914: The Year the World Ended, Sandakan, Hiroshima Nagasaki, Vietnam: The Australian War and Kokoda. He has co-written and/or narrated two ABC documentaries based on his books. A former correspondent for the Sunday Times, Paul was born in Sydney and educated in Australia and Britain.
