UPDATE: Playground Upgrade

Following the final concept design (see below), we have successfully tendered the construction of the new playground. We apologise it’s taken a while to initiate but the industry is very busy at the moment.

Construction is scheduled to begin in June 2024 and will take approximately 4 months to complete. A notice of works will be delivered to houses facing the reserve in the week leading up to construction.

We are excited to see the design take shape on site.

Playground and reserve upgrade

The City of Marion, in conjunction with the Federal Government, is upgrading the playground at Hamilton Park Reserve. This will be a neighbourhood level reserve upgrade. We anticipate work to commence mid-year 2024.

Key items proposed in the upgrade include but not limited to are:

  • A tree-top tower structure with 3 slides
  • Two swings (standard swing and baby swing)
  • See saw
  • Sandpit
  • Art reflecting the history of the site
  • Landscaping including trees and shrub beds
  • Drinking fountain
  • Pathway connection and seating
  • New barbeque
  • Upgraded irrigation
  • Additional shelter

The recently upgraded tennis court, basketball court and netball ring will remain as well as the public toilet, picnic table and shelter. These additions were added in late 2020 as part of a co-funded State government grant. The older 3 on 3 basketball court will be removed.

Consultation occurred from 3 March to 31 March 2023. Outcomes are detailed in the consultation report.

At this stage, we anticipate work to be completed by late 2024. The final design is available below.

Upgraded Sports Courts

A new tennis court, 3 on 3 basketball court and netball ring have been installed at Hamilton Park Reserve.

A new toilet, picnic table and shelter are onsite. An official opening was held in September 2020.

These facilities are now open for public use. Come down and work on your tennis serve. Have a game on our new basketball half court.

An $180,000 state government grant and $150,000 from Council resulted in these new reserve features.

A playground upgrade is planned for 2023-4.
