This is an off-leash park where dogs can exercise off-leash, except within 5 metres of a playground, at a wetland or when organised sport is being played.
Hazelmere Road Reserve in Glengowrie has a dog park, sports courts and a regional playground.
Dog Park Upgrade
The new look Hazelmere Road Reserve dog park officially opened in August 2019.
The upgrade has got tails wagging with separate fenced areas for all dogs and small dogs, drink fountains with dog bowls.
Features include walking paths, landscaping, and seating. There are shady and sunny areas for your furry friends with trees and two new shelters onsite.
We are unable to actively monitor the size of dogs entering the park and are relying on the community to assess whether their dog is appropriate for the small dog area.
As a guide we suggest dogs under 15kg are appropriate.

Due to community opposition to Cadell Street Reserve, this location was removed from the shortlisted sites at the 27 March 2018 General Council Meeting
This survey was open from 15 August 2017 until 18 September 2017.
The survey was undertaken to seek the community’s view on location, size and key features to be included in the park.
Council received over 200 responses to the online engagement and the community showed strong support (98%) for the development of a new dog park.
Comments supporting the proposal included having a dog park with separate areas for small and large dogs, the importance of maintaining responsible dog behaviour and the broader community and social benefits that dog parks can bring.
Comments not supporting the proposal included concerns with dog behaviour and a preference to upgrade existing dog parks.
The majority of respondents 52.8% would prefer a park with separate areas for small and large dogs, with 35.4% preferring a park for all dogs in one area and 7% preferring a park for small dogs only.
The Animal Management Plan 2012 - 2017 identified the need to investigate the creation of two dog parks. The first dog park was officially opened at Reserve Street Reserve, Trott Park in September 2016.
The 2016 – 2019 Business Plan includes the additional dog park as an initiative under the Liveable theme. The three-year Open Space Works program also includes the additional dog park as a project for consultation and design (2017/18) followed by development (2018/19).
An Elected Member Forum was held on 20 June 2017 to introduce the project, present initial location analysis and to seek Elected Member input into the planning of a new dog park. Elected Member feedback included undertaking broad community consultation to understand preferred locations as well as the preferred type of dog park.
Playground
The playground was upgraded in 2011 with shade sails added in 2016.
The playground features a small rock climbing wall up to a side-by-side slide. There are swings and a springer.
Spin around on the stand-up-spinner, the spinning cup or the supanova (the round spinning blue disc).
For a birds-eye view attempt the climb up the climbing net or stay down low and relax on the hammock.
