New Playground

A new playground and reserve upgrade is planned for Lapwing Street Reserve from July 2022. The reserve is named after the Lapwing bird, a ground nesting bird often seen at the reserve. The upgrade has been themed around the Lapwing bird. Local level playgrounds primarily cater to people living and working within walking distance. These spaces are less developed with limited play equipment.

Key elements of the design include:

  • A bird themed 'nest' play structure with a slide
  • Ground level birdnest themed cubby with 'play' eggs
  • Swings and monkey bars or see saw
  • Log steppers
  • Irrigation and grassed kick about area with mini soccer goal
  • Additional trees and planting and new footpath
  • New furniture including picnic table and drinking fountain

Consultation occurred on Making Marion from 30 May to 24 June 2022. The opportunity to provide feedback has now closed.
Feedback will be reviewed and, where possible, incorporated into the final design.
