Maldon Avenue Reserve in Mitchell Park is a neighbourhood playground that was upgraded in 2012.
There's a playground, 3 on 3 basketball court, Intergenerational Playground and picnic facilities - it's a great stop-off point along the Sturt River Linear Park.
It has a wooden multistation with a pommel course, spider net, rock climbing wall and slide and includes some nature play features with wooden obstacle poles, large logs and rocks.
There is also a 3 on 3 basketball court. The setting is shady and secluded and provides an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of the nearby main roads.
The Intergenerational Playground is designed to gently test your balance, mobility, dexterity and strength.
There are 12 stations, with various exercises for each one:
1) Net
2) Gangway
3) Snake Pipe
4) Shaking Bridge
5) High Chin-Up Bars
6) Balance Beam
7) Balance Stool
8) Bar Seat
9) Low Chin-Up Bar
10) Stretching Board
This reserve has lots of facilities to make it a longer stay and play destination.
Sheltered picnic tables with BBQs are situated between the 3 on 3 basketball court and playground. There are also good pathways through the reserve, with lighting. Plenty of shade from the tall established trees and seating throughout.
Although there are no toilets at this reserve, there are some located along the Sturt River Linear Park at Warriparinga (1.2km, 15min walk).
A new public toilet will be installed during the 2022/23 financial year. For more information please visit Making Marion at makingmarion.com.au
