Playground Framework

The City of Marion has developed a Playground Framework to guide the future direction, provision and management of playgrounds in the City of Marion.(endorsed by Council on 12 December 2017).

The Playground Framework is aimed at improving the quality, access, safety and distribution of our playgrounds. This is to ensure the sustainable provision and management of accessible, diverse, creative, innovative, safe and high quality playgrounds that contribute to the developmental needs of all children.

Four key documents underpin the Playground Framework.

Playground Framework Policy

The Playground Framework Policy sets out how the City of Marion provides for accessible and safe play environments that contribute to physical, mental, emotional and social development.

The following principles will guide the City of Marion’s planning, development and management of playgrounds:

  • Accessible & Diverse
  • Creative, Innovative & Fun
  • Safe & Sustainable

Playground Framework Methodology

Our approach to our playgrounds can be found in the Playground Framework Methodology, which covers:

Playground Framework Service Levels

The Playground Framework Services Levels document sets out the hierarchy of our reserves and the agreed service levels for each.

The service levels specified cover:

  • User catchment
  • Types of facilities
  • Indicative cost
