Woodend Way, Sheidow Park

Take a stroll down Marion Council's avenue of trees called ‘Woodend Way.’

This natural shade walkway is based in Sheidow Park and connects four open space reserves – Hallett Close Reserve, Morford Reserve, Montague Drive Reserve and Sandy Glass Court Reserve. The Woodend Path upgrade was completed in 2020 and has seen mature trees planted along the existing shared path.

The name of this pathway ‘Woodend Way’ is the result of the Woodend path naming competition. The winning entry was by a Woodend Primary School student. The judging panel comprised Environment Minister David Speirs, Deputy Mayor Matthew Shilling, Councillor Maggie Duncan and Mayor Kris Hanna. A plaque with the new name was revealed at the pathway openings in September 2020. Totem poles with the pathway name have been installed at the entrance and exit.

The pathway was a welcome addition inviting students, parents and guardians to walk to school and home.

New furniture installed included a chess table, two new bench seats and a drinking fountain. New and established garden beds have been infilled with native plantings.

Additional native trees have been planted in various locations throughout the reserve.
