The City of Marion Library Service provides an expertly curated collection that fosters a love of reading, stimulates curiosity, inspires creativity, supports lifelong learning and strives to meet the educational, informational and recreational needs of the community.

Adult Collections

Fiction & non-fiction

The library offers a large collection of popular and literary fiction titles - from the latest best sellers to beloved classics and from award-winning national and international authors to stories by local, diverse and emerging writers. Explore our Fiction collection here.

Our non-fiction collection offers a wealth of resources spread across a multitude of topics, which supports life-long learning, professional development and recreational interests.

Large print books & audiobooks

The large print collection includes popular Australian and international authors in many different genres, including non-fiction, in an easy to read larger print format.

Each branch offers a wide selection of both fiction and non-fiction Audiobooks which allows you to listen to many of your favourite books on your CD or MP3 player. Explore our Audiobook collection here.

Magazines, movies & music

We subscribe to a variety of popular & special interest magazines. Whilst only the back issues are available for loan, latest issues are always available to read in the library. Explore our magazine collection here.

We collect the latest popular Australian and overseas movies, TV series and documentaries in both DVD and Blu-Ray formats. Explore our DVD and Blu-Ray collection here.

Our Libraries make a wide range of music CDs available for loan. We collect the latest rock, pop and hip-hop releases along with soundtracks, classical, easy listening and global music.

Kids & teen collections

Picture books, early readers & kids fiction

The Library offers a wide range of picture books ideal for preschool and early primary school children including board books, which are great for babies and toddlers.

We also hold a variety of early reader materials especially designed for children who are in the process of learning to read. These include early literacy readers along and illustrated short chapter books.

For stronger readers, the Children's fiction collection at each of our branches offers the latest popular children's novels by much-loved Australian and international authors. Explore our Children's Fiction collection here.

Audiobooks & read-along books

Read-along books allow children to read along with a narration. They either come with CDs or, as is the case with our VOX book collection, with an audio player built in.

Each branch offers a wide selection of Kid's Audiobooks which allow you to listen to your favourite books on your CD player - perfect for long car journeys!

Non-fiction, movies & TV series

The Marion Library's kids non-fiction collection is stocked with high-quality, contemporary, relevant and exciting information-based materials to support school projects and satisfy curiosity.

A wide selection of kids and family DVDs are available in our libraries. They include popular movies and television series along with educational titles.

Graphic novels, teen fiction & culture

More than simply 'comics', graphics novels combine visual art, literary and cinematic techniques to create an engaging reading experience for young and old alike. Marion Libraries collects a wide range of graphic novels for kids, teens and adult readers, from superhero anthologies to Manga, and from alternative comics to award winning literary titles.

The Marion Library's teen collection includes latest popular young adult fiction titles from both Australian and international authors. It also features a 'teen culture' collection which offers wide variety of teen interest-specific non-fiction titles.

Special collections

Community Languages

Each of our branches also offers a selection of books, magazines, CDs and DVDs published in languages other than English, which reflect language demographics in the City of Marion.

Cultural heritage collection

The Cultural Heritage Collection is a growing reference collection of photographs, documents, books and oral histories relating to the lives of local people and the Marion area.

This collection is housed at the Marion Heritage Research Centre, located adjacent the Marion Council Chambers on Sturt Road. To find out more and to view the centre's opening times, visit their homepage.

Access & inclusion collections

The Library's Access and Inclusion collections feature materials designed specifically for people who experience difficultly reading regular print books. In addition to adult large-print and audiobooks which are found at each branch, we also offer:

- Dyslexic books, which are specially formatted for use by people with Dyslexia.

- Teen and kids large print materials (Park Holme Library only).

- Adult literacy materials, which are located at Cultural Centre and Park Holme branches. This collection includes English language kits, study guides and exam preparation materials. Cultural Centre Library’s collection also includes adult readers, designed for ESL students and adult literacy learners.

Toy library

Book Club in a Bag

eCollections

We offer access to a wide variety of online library materials that can be borrowed from anywhere with a library card and an internet connection. Simply browse, check out, download and enjoy!

eBooks and eAudiobooks

The library’s eBook and eAudiobook collection includes fiction, non-fiction, new-releases, best-sellers and classics for people of all ages.

The best way to enjoy these materials is to use Library's Libby or BorrowBox app on your Android or Apple device

Online newspapers and magazines

Access to popular Australian daily newspapers including the Advertiser & Messenger Newspapers is provided to our borrowers through our subscription to the Newsbank database. To access Newsbank, visit the website and enter your library card number.

All library members have access to PressReader which provides access to a substantial collection of online magazines and newspapers from Australia and around the world. To access PressReader visit the website or download the app from either the Android, Apple or Microsoft store.

To login, click Library or Group from the sign in menu, select South Australia Public Library Service and then follow the prompts to enter your library card number and pin number before creating your account. Movie streaming

Marion Library members have access to the Kanopy streaming service, which offers free access to movies, documentaries, foreign films, classic cinema, independent films and educational videos that inspire, enrich and entertain.
