Marion Outdoor Pool upgrade

Water play park with:

- 9.2 metre high x 20 metre wide centrepiece with four water slides, including one enclosed slide, tipping bucket containing 600 litres of water , and water cannons

- 59 sqm spash pad with non-slip surface, water jets and interactive features.

Expanding the site size site by 1800 sqm to create a family area with:

- Three new barbecues ** Not in use due to current COVID-19 restrictions

- Three new shade structures

- Picnic areas

- Landscaping

• New paths across the site to improve access for people of all abilities
• Disability access drinking fountain

New play equipment will also be installed.

Construction is being undertaken by Australian company Swimplex and is due to be completed for the opening of the season in early October.

Improvements undertaken over the past three years include upgrades to change rooms, the kiosk, increased shade and storage areas, a renewed carpark, and reconfigured foyer and administration area.

The three-year project has cost a total of $4.5 million. Council provided $4.35 million of funding, and the State Government $150,000.

The Marion Outdoor Pool opened on 24 January 1976.

The Marion Outdoor Pool is located on Oaklands Rd (corner Hendrie Street), Park Holme.

Marion Outdoor Pool is a grassed area that currently includes a 50-metre eight lane pool, two shaded learner and toddler pools, floodlighting, and kiosk.

There’s a 70-metre water slide with a tunnel, and a speed slide where people can reach speeds of up to 31 kmh.

The pool’s speed slide has a 10-metre drop and sees thrill seekers reach speeds of up to 31km per hour.

The 70-metre slide includes twists and turns and a tunnel with multi-coloured coloured lighting.
