Mayor's Message

Marion Council is back at work following the local government elections.

I’m joined by four new members following my re-election for a second term as Mayor. I thank the community for their support.

The election result is an affirmation that Council has been on the right track, with a frugal, commonsense approach. This has included keeping rates low while delivering major projects and quality services for community benefit.

We’ll soon begin working on a budget and plan for the next four years. This will ensure we maintain the momentum of the previous Council.

We have already started looking at ways of saving Marion Markets. The markets were an initiative of Marion Sports and Community Club, and have been closed due to demand for sport at the oval on Sundays.

I hope the markets can continue in some form. Staff are exploring alternative sites.
